MUBARAKIYA
Mubarakiya short for Souq AlMubarakiya is one of the oldest markets in Kuwait and was the centre of trade during the discovery of oil. The 200 year old market is known for selling gold, fish, Arabian perfumes like oud or musk, our famous bukhour and most importantly traditional clothing. The market is always busy with customers that either want to spend a night out in one of the cafe's or shop for groceries or anything really! Theres so much that you can find in the market; But it does have one issue: The market does not have a clear way-finding system. I did my research which you can download at the bottom of the page to understand the errors of their way-finding system and see the solutions that I came up with.
The design of the way-finding system that I created was inspired by the traditional clothing that mean wear on their heads which is called "Qutra" the reason why I chose to get inspired by this is because 1) The market's majority of audience is men and 2) nowadays women are actually using the embroidery of the Qutra's design in their clothing too! Also, the Qutra is a very traditional design that is recognized by all Kuwaiti's and non Kuwaiti's, and what better way to design something traditional than using a recognized traditional element.

Logo design: hand-drawn logo that reads Mubarakiya in arabic and the ring of the Qutra design.

The Qutra design shaped as pins to locate the locations on the map.
